# How to create custom fields

## Custom fields can be used to segment, organize, and target your contact lists

### Creating Custom Fields

Custom fields are added to your Respond Flow account Via CSV upload or an integration. Most of the time it will be done using a contact upload. Any contact field outside of "Name" and "Phone" will be stored as a "Custom Field".
